The Slaty-backed Gull (Larus schistisagus) breeds in Siberia and northeast Asia. It is an extremely rare visitor to the Great Lakes. This adult non-breeding bird was found by Karl Bardon in Duluth, Minnesota on October 28th. Note the dusky face and streaking, dark gray back, pink legs, "string of pearls" subapicular spots on primaries, and wide white trailing edge of inner primaries [November 30; Canal Park, South breakwall, Duluth, Minnesota]
